Founded in 2005, Seaham Family
History Group is dedicated to helping its members, from beginners
to experienced researchers alike, to learn more about their
ancestors, with special emphasis on the Seaham area, but also those
whose ancestry is elsewhere.
The group holds a Heritage Box at Beamish Museum
for members to deposit their valuables should they wish. Initial
enquiries regarding this should be made through the Secretary at
the email address, shown below.
The group meets every
Wednesday 9.45am – 12.15pm in Seaham Library
Monday ( 2nd Monday of the month)
- 4.00 -6.30pm
Speakers and occasional outings are arranged, and
a monthly newsletter is issued.

Our Facebook page is complimentary to this website and is managed by member Fred Cooper. It contains fascinating articles and as with all social media allows interaction with the site. Fred has recently published another book about Seaham - "History of the Seaham Infirmary' - which documents the definitive history of this building.

Remembrance Sunday 2022
Seaham Family History Group were represented at the Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday 13 November 2022 by our Chairman, Secretary and Treasurer. Our wreath was laid at the Cenotaph joining the many others from various community groups in the town. The ceremony was led by Mr Derek Winter the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of County Durham.
The first print has already sold out, but orders are being taken for another print.
Copies can be ordered at £25 each, (U.K. postage and packing £15).

At the begining of May the Seaham Mayor hosted an event where the recipients of his Charity Fund were announced.
SFHG were represented at this event in recognition of their contribution to the Mayor's activities and fundraising during the year.
We were delighted to receive a donation from the Charity Fund.
